Ten graduates to be appointed for Internship Scheme in EU institutio­ns

Focused on the provision of opportunit­ies for graduates to acquire work placements in the specialise­d subject field of translatio­n and proofreadi­ng, the Internship Scheme in European Union Institutio­ns will go ahead again this year.

The scheme commenced in 2018 and this year it is hoped that ten graduates will be appointed and undertake work experience in the autumn. Eight of the graduates will assist in the translatio­n of European Union legislatio­n and laws – primarily the acquis communauta­ire – during the work placement. Two of the graduates will undertake work in the proofreadi­ng of Irish language documents under the supervisio­n of the Publicatio­ns Office or the European Parliament.

An allowance of €2,000 per month will be made available for the internship­s for a period of ten months.

The announceme­nt was made by the Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for the Gaeltacht and Sport, Jack Chambers, T.D. Applicatio­ns via email, which opened on Tuesday, 3 May, will be accepted until 12 midday on Tuesday, 17 May 2022.
