Party time for Bridge by the River in Fermoy
Talk about a party, after three long years without a president’s dinner Fermoy Bridge Club broke out and had a wonderful night in Fermoy Golf Club on Friday 29th last at our president’s prize night and dinner. What fun - Imelda Cullinan was our M/C and with grace and poise kept the proceedings flowing effortlessly.
Marian Baker, our president, made a lovely speech thanking her committee for all their hard work and also Matt O’Callaghan (who incidentally we were all delighted to see back with us enjoying the Craic) the previous president and his committee. Make no mistake it has been a difficult time, but with the commitment of two wonderful committees and their leaders Fermoy Bridge Club has not only stayed afloat but has also made renovations to the club. We should all be very proud of our club and those that have kept it going down through the years.
But back to the party it was a marvellous night with music provided by Pat Heskin, our own Mary Hayes doing an hilarious recitation and songs from Ted Long, John Morrison and Aisling Kenneally who had the whole room up and dancing. Many thanks to Monika and her team for the dinner and all at Fermoy Golf Club for hosting it. The clubhouse now has full length windows with wonderful views across the countryside, a perfect place for a bite to eat.
Congratulations to Liam and Karen Magnier who won the president’s prize and also the other cup winners on the night Pat and Theresa Tiernan (Military Cup), Kathleen O’Connor and Helen Lane (Baker Cup) and Rachel Robinson and Vanessa McCarthy (Magnier Cup).
