Special day in Glenroe as pupils receive sacraments

-

Last Saturday was a historic day for the parish of Glenroe/Ballyorgan, as for the first time in seven years the sacraments of First Holy Communion and of Confirmation were celebrated in Our Lady of Ransom Church, Glenroe.

Fr O’Shea and the wider community of Glenroe-Ballyorgan express their thanks to all involved for their input. The reopening of the school in Glenroe as the Glenroe Community National School has been a blessing. Under the patronage of the LCETB (Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board) and respecting their ethos, we have in the school the exceptionally committed and dedicated teachers Julie, Marie, Charlotte and Kate. The teachers enjoy an excellent relationship with their pupils and take a personal interest in each child, showing great understanding and sensitivity. They always aim to develop their varying talents and bring out the best in them.

The community very much appreciate their careful after-school preparation of the children for the sacraments of Confirmation and First Holy Communion, and Fr Michael O’Shea especially acknowledge the hard work put in by the teachers. There is a sense of gratitude and thanksgiving for their efforts with these pupils, as their efforts ensured that not only were the children very well prepared for the ceremony, but they were also given a deep understanding of the spiritual significance of the celebration.

The diligent work with these children was very much appreciated by their parents and the parish community are indebted to the teachers and say a huge thanks. The children presented bouquets of flowers to Muinteoiri Marie and Charlotte. Congratulations to Daniel, Danny, Aurora, Rebecca, Mollie and Aoife in receiving these sacraments, where the ceremony was enhanced by the music and singing of Mary McCarthy. Fr O’Shea especially thanks teachers Charlotte and Marie, Mike the sacristan, Mary for her beautiful music and singing and for Glenroe/ Ballyorgan Community Council. God bless and reward you all. Thanks again.

Following the ceremony, all were invited by Glenroe-Ballyorgan Community Council to refreshments in Glenroe Hall. Parents and children made special mention of the treats that included the tiered cake stands from Bluberries that held an array of cakes, including themed cupcakes donated by Glenroe Cup Cakes and personalised mini cakes for each child donated by BB Bakes, and also the jars of sweet treats with themed bags.

It was a wonderful day for the children, their parents, their teachers, their priest and the community of Glenroe Ballyorgan. A big ‘thank you’ was extended by guests to Geraldine O’Sullivan, Niamh Noonan, Jeane O’Connell and Mary Coffey.
