Fermoy Farmers’ Market back in action

- KATIE GLAVIN

Fermoy Farmers’ Market is back in action this weekend, setting up at their new location at Mill Island Car Park on Saturday, May 14.

Having closed out last season in December at Richmond House, the Market is now poised to get up and running again with approximately 16 stalls taking to Mill Island from 10am until 2pm on Saturday.

Speaking with The Avondhu, Ann Mason of Fermoy Farmers’ Market, said a host of homemade and handmade crafts and goods will be on display as the market returns.

“We have home baking, handmade jewellery, candles, woodturning, smoked salmon, pizzas, Brew Boys coffee, and much more. It’s our first time back and we’re really looking forward to it,” Ann said.

Fermoy Farmers’ Market is welcoming all to attend on the day and is hoping for a busy season with markets to be held every second week.

In April, the market’s move to Mill Island was confirmed, with space for approximately 25 stalls to set up on the lefthand side of the town’s central car park.

Local councillor Noel McCarthy and the Fermoy Municipal District were thanked for their help and assistance in securing the new location for Fermoy Farmers Market.

“We’ve been preparing for this since January really. It’s great to be so close to the centre of the town. We’re hoping to expand and get some more food stalls involved, maybe homemade preserves, or anything to do with a farmers market.

“We have enough room for 25 stalls in total so we’re hoping to grow and expand. It would be great to organise a community table, where people with smaller amounts can set up together,” Ann added.
