Full steam ahead for 3 Counties Golf Society
So far, it’s been an eventful, busy and very successful 2022 for the revived 3 Counties Golf Society. Drawing members from Cork, Tipperary and Limerick, this combination of sporting and social club is going from strength to strength. Overseeing the society are volunteers Eugene Quirke (captain), Ann Morrison (president), James Archdeacon (secretary) and Jim Murphy (treasurer).
The society’s inaugural event took them to the spectacular surroundings of Castlemartyr Golf Resort, where the main business of the day was the presentation of the Mossie Archdeacon Perpetual Shield.
This impressive trophy is named after a man who gave so much to the game of golf. Mossie, a progressive farmer from Clongeel, Newmarket was heavily involved in IRD Duhallow, as well as being on the board of Ballyclough Co-Op, he was also a founder member of Kanturk Golf Club. The honour of winning the shield went to Rory Cunningham, who received the trophy from Mossie’s son, James.
GOLF, GOLF AND MORE GOLF
All going to according to plan, members of 3 Counties Golf Society will visit Tipperary Golf Club during the month of May; Mitchelstown Golf Club is pencilled in for July, with a trip to Killarney scheduled for August. The following month, the destination is Cahir Golf Club - all fantastic facilities.
UNITED BY THEIR LOVE OF THE SPORT
Those associated with 3 Counties Golf Society are drawn from a variety of backgrounds, however, they are united in their love of golf. Having had some great days in the past, this revived society is looking forward to even greater times in the months and years ahead.
