Fermoy girls flying the flag at Gerry Ryan Memorial Gala

The girls of Fermoy Swimming Club took part in the Gerry Ryan Memorial long course gala in UL on April 9th. The swimmers demonstrat­ed the tremendous amount of work and commitment they have put in since their last gala with 11 personal bests achieved.

First up was Sophie Baker who swam the 200m and 100m breaststro­ke and finished her day with the 50m freestyle. Amy Hawe swam the 100m and the 50m fly along with the 100m and the 50m freestyle. Eabha Burke swam the 100m fly and the 200m freestyle.

Grace Duggan swam the 200m freestyle, 100m backcrawl and the 50m freestyle. Melina Pyrovolaki swam the 100m breaststro­ke and last but no means least we had Emily Donohoe who swam the 100m breaststro­ke and the 100m freestyle. Congratula­tions to all the girls who swam at the 2022 Gerry Ryan Memorial.

GOLD FOR EMMA AT MUNSTER/ CONNAUGHT YOUTH CHAMPIONSH­IPS

Emma Crowley flew the flag for Fermoy SC at the Munster Connacht Youth Long course UL on Sunday, May 8. Emma competed in the 100m backcrawl and she swam a fantastic personal best of 1:19:91, placing second and guaranteei­ng her a place in the final.

Emma then went on to swim another personal best in the final, coming in first and winning gold along with knocking another .45sec off her previous time. Well done Emma.
