Great win for our U12s

-

On Monday evening we travelled to Glantane to play Kilshannig in this crucial U12 HL game. Playing with a strong breeze Kilshannig started well and had two points inside the first 4 minutes. Following some hard work by Harry, Scott and Jason in the middle third, Micheal crossed a ball to Ethan who rounded two defenders and crashed the ball to the back of the net. Within a minute he got his second goal after a nice ball in from Jason.

The next Ballygiblin point was a free by Tony after he was brought down 30 metres from goal. James was unlucky with a ground strike before Scott scored a point from a free. Kilshannig responded with a good goal. A free up the wing from Harry picked out Ethan who scored a peach of a point from out near the sideline.

Kilshannig had two narrow misses from distance before Micheal danced around two

defenders and scored a good goal after a great ball in from Scott. Kilshannig had a good effort deflected for a 65 which they pointed. The boys fought hard for every ball - Jason, Micheal Walsh and Jack standing out in particular late in the first half. Rory saved

and cleared with confidence. The

opposition scored a free from dis

tance. Jason responded in kind,

Micheal Walsh intercepted a pass

and drilled the ball over the bar to

leave us up 7 points at half-time.

The second half started off

hectically, both sides giving away frees. While Jason was on the ground after a rough challenge the Kilshannig midfielder lashed out on a couple of our lads, leading to a red card. We exchanged a few wides, Kilshannig scored the next free. Liam scored a point from play.

The extra man was now beginning to show as our halfback line stood strong in Conor, Harry and

Fionn. Ethan scored a free then Scott scored a nice point on the run. Michael scored a goal then Scott and Ethan got a goal and a point each. Kilshannig scored the last score, a goal near the end to leave it Kilshannig 2-5 Ballygiblin 10.6- Team: Rory McCarthy, Kevin Cooke, Fionn Moher, Darragh Condon, Conor McGrath, Eoin Luddy, Harry Brennan, Micheal Walsh, Jason Holland, Michael Murphy, Tony Murphy, Scott Kirby, Ethan Molan, Daire Burke, James Walsh, Liam Walsh, Noah Bernard, Jack Dalton.
