Comprehensive win for U13 footballers
Galtee Gaels 5-9 Dromin Athlacca Banogue 2-1
Our U13 footballers put in a fine performance last Thursday, May 5th at home to Dromin Athlacca Banogue in the 3rd round of the football championship.
In what was a great team effort all round Colm, Jack and Charlie in the fullback line were solid to set up a strong platform for our midfield and forwards who made some excellent runs to convert great scores over the course of the game.
Jayden (1-0), Cian (1-3) and Michael, in brilliant form scoring 3-2, did the most damage in the forward line but there were also some fine scores from centre back and midfield from Padraig, Haulie and Gearoid respectively
Conal was as brave as ever in goals bringing off a superb save in the 2nd half to dampen any hopes the opposition had of getting back into the game. There were notable performances from the two Jacks, Mosey and William also, but overall, it was a comprehensive display by the entire team who went on to win 5-9 to 2-1.

DEFEAT FOR U15 FOOTBALLERS IN ROUND 3 OF THE MR BINMAN FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP Galtee Gaels 1-5 Oola 4-5
On Monday evening last Galtee Gaels U15 footballers took on Oola in the 3rd round of the football championship in wet, windy conditions at home in O’Mahony Park.
The opposition, with the wind behind them, set a frantic pace from the outset and raced into a lead of 2-2 to no score after 5 minutes.
In the 2nd quarter Gaels came more into the game with some strong runs from Tommy English, Sean O’Donnell and Maurice Fitzgerald but the Oola defence was extremely difficult to break down and it was not until the 20th minute that Gaels registered their first
score through a free from Eoghan Fitzgerald.
On the 22nd minute Oola had a player black carded and sent to the bin for 10 minutes. From the resulting free Eoghan Fitzgerald put over another point followed by 2 more points before half-time, leaving the score at half-time reading 4-3 to 0-4 in favour of Oola.
With the aid of the breeze in the 2nd half, Gales improved on their 1st half performance coming more into the game with Conor McNamara, Sean Gallaghue and Eoghan Fitzgerald commanding more position and making some strong runs at the opposition
Oola’s defence however were resolute, and Gaels struggled to make any indent on their lead. A converted penalty by Eoghan Fitzgerald on the 18th minute of the 2nd half brought with it some hope but Gales were unable to build on this and in the end went down on a scoreline of 1-5 to 4 -5.
Team: Jack Prendergast, Kevin O’Mahony, Maurice Fitzgerald, Cathal Maher, Liam O’Donnell, Sean Gallaghue, Tommy English, Maurice Fitzgerald, Sean O’Donnell, Scott Reidy, Conor McNamara, Robbie Ryan, Cormac Kearney Eoghan Fitzgerald, Paul Quane, Haulie Gallaghue, Liam Bourke, Edward Moriarty, Padraig Casey.
