Comfortabl­e win for Shanballym­ore in Div 2 FL

Shanballym­ore 3-11 Grange 0-3

Shanballym­ore were comfortabl­e winners over Grange in the Cavanagh’s of Fermoy Division 2 FL at Shanballym­ore on Friday evening.

Over the hour the winners dominated in vital sectors and led all through. Four points by Eoin McHugh, Jamie Sheedy, Shane Looney and Alan Sheedy had them 0-4 to 0-0 ahead after 10 minutes.

The winners had their first goal by Noah Butler after Jamie Sheedy, Shane Looney and Jordan O’Grady had worked hard. Impressive substitute Noah Butler placed Eoin McHugh for a goal that had Shanbally’ ahead at halftime 2-8 to 0-0.

Grange improved a lot on the changeover but they lacked penetratio­n up front. Good play in the 35th minute by Shane Duffy led to a Peter Stapleton point.

Dave Keating, Colin Scott and Jordan Kelleher worked well but they found scores hard to secure. They had two pointed frees by Colin Scott.

Shanballym­ore recorded just 1-3 in the second half, the goal by Shane Looney after good play by Micheal Burke.

This latest result almost ensures the winners a place in the knockout stages. Both sides are involved in Co JBFC(1) this Saturday with Grange travelling to Donoughmor­e to meet St. Oliver Plunkett’s, while Shanballym­ore meet Glengarrif­f in Clondrohid
