NISSAN MOTORS FERMOY U11 CUP SEMI-FINAL Brideview Utd 4 Mogeely FC 2

A cracker of a game here with Utd coming out on top. Utd got off to a flying start after just three minutes. A terrific shot from Cunningham saw the keeper get his hands to the ball but could only push it out and the inrushing Marsh shot home to put Utd in front. A free kick to Utd saw Cunningham’s shot end up in the net, so Utd 2-0 in front after just 8 minutes.

Marsh had a terrific volley a few minutes later that saw the crossbar rescue Mogeely. The East Cork side were back in the game in the 14th minute through an own goal. At the break it was 2-1 to Brideview.

Utd put the pressure on the East Cork side in the early part of the second half. Cunningham had a shot off the bar and Murphy was denied by a terrific save from Mogeely’s keeper. Utd went 3-1 up in the 38th minute. A Cunningham corner was headed home by Donovan. Keniry, Doyle and Donovan all went close before Doyle headed home Utd’s fourth goal in the 44th minute.

Mogeely pulled a goal back a minute later and they tried hard for another goal in the final five minutes. However, Kaulins (keeper), Murphy, McCarthy and Goulding held firm and held out for victory. Well done boys and Sophie.

Utd (all played): Edward Kaulins, David Murphy, Sophie McCarthy, AJ Goulding, Oscar Cunningham, Darragh Donovan, Isaac Doyle, Sam Marsh, Jake Keniry.

TWO CUP FINALS – EAST CORK OIL AND NISSAN MOTORS FERMOY

It’s a very busy week for two of our schoolboys teams, namely our U15 and U11 teams who both have cup finals.

The first team into action are our U15 team who face neighbours Ballyduff Rovers on Tuesday night of this week. Both of these teams have been involved in terrific games this week and this cup final should be another cracker. We would ask our supporters to travel to Lismore if at all possible where you are sure to be entertained to a marvellous game of football. We wish Shane, Steve, Brian and Clive the best of luck on Tuesday.

Then we move onto Wednesday evening in Cappoquin where our U11 squad face another derby game with neighbours Lismore. Our U11 squad had a great game against East Cork side Mogeely in the semi-final. No doubt we will see some of our young players on the WW/EC development at U11. Again we appeal to our supporters to turn out in Cappoquin to cheer on the boys and of course Sophie, who is now one of our top players. Best of luck to Georgina, Sinead, Natalie and Brian.

Then on Saturday next our U13 team are in the Hannah’s Café, Fermoy Cup semi-final against Cork side Kilworth Celtic. This game goes ahead in Leonard Fraser Park, Tallow.
