Great weekend for Fermoy’s players

-

Over the weekend we hosted the Cork strokeplay. This was played over Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday we had the ladies and the intermediate men. We had a good number of players playing in this.

After 36 holes Shane O’Hara was leading with a score of -14 with JJ Quirke one shot behind on -13 and Jimmy Quinn on -10. the cut was -8 so Robbie Donovan got in with his -8. So we had 4 players playing the final 18.

There was great scoring done with Shane shooting -5 leaving him with a score of -19, leaving him to win with JJ Quirke second -14 and Robbie Donovan third -12. Well done to them all, great scoring and well played. Well done to Noreen Ryan who got second in the ladies section. Well done to all the winners.

On Sunday came the men’s junior and senior. The weather was splendid but the wind was tough. We also had a great number of players playing in this. Great scoring was done on this day. After the 36 holes we had Dylan Seymour on -18 and Daithi Sexton also on the same score, some scoring! Leading was -20 so the boys were chasing.

So playoff started. 2 shots in this game wasn’t much. So after 6 holes the leader was roughly 2 shots ahead. Daithi kicked into gear and was -10 for 10 holes with a hole in one on number 10 hole.

Dylan was closing the gap after 9 holes. Daithi kicked on to finish on -11 for the round with four and a hole in 1 on the card, Daithi finished with a massive score of -29, well done to him. Dylan finished with -23, well done to him. It was a great weekend for Fermoy players on both days. The weather was spectacular and the course was in top shape. The hard word and effort gone in the last few months is out of this world.

Well done to the following – Noel, Decky, Daniel, Gavin, Oliver, Paudi, Gary, Shane, Ned, Fás lads, Breda and Theresa. Well done to all. All the players enjoyed the course and couldn’t get over the condition. Keep up the good work.
