A busy week for our U8 and U10 girls who took part in the Waterford Go Games Mini Blitz in WIT on Monday, 2nd May. The girls had a great day out and played some great matches and it was great to see so many girls with hurleys in their club colours in WIT on the day. Huge thanks to our club coaches and parents who travelled to cheer on the girls on the day.

Our U10s (combined some of our U11s) also played a great challenge match v Bride Rovers on Friday, 6th May. MINOR LEAGUE

A little bit of history for our club as our young minors took to the field against Cappoquin in the league on Tuesday, 3rd May. We believe this is the first time Ballyduff Upper have fielded a minor camogie team in a competitive match in some time (if not ever!). As we have a very young minor team this season, we knew this match was always going to be a challenge against an older, more physical Cappoquin side. But our girls got stuck in from the word go and worked their socks off for the full 60 minutes.

Cappoquin started brightly in the first half and went in at halftime well ahead. However our girls rallied in the second half quickly hitting 2 goals without reply which spurred on the whole team. The second half was a much tighter affair than the first with both teams going toe to toe. Unfortunately our girls could not claw back the scores conceded in the first half and Cappoquin went on to win on a final score of Cappoquin 4-11 Ballyduff 3-02.

Full credit to our girls who never gave up and battled all the way. It’s fantastic to see a few new girls getting their first camogie match under their belts against Cappoquin which will stand to them for the rest of the season - well done girls!

Minor team v Cappoquin Millie Feeney, Nora Ahern, Maebh Landy, Katie Kenneally (JC), Ailish O’Donovan, Ellen Hogan (JC), Niamh Ryan, Maeve Hickey, Emer Collins, Kate Ahern, Sinead Branagh, Sibhe Collins, Grace Kenny. Subs used Laura Kenny for Millie Feeney (inj). Absent - Molly Kenneally.

Minor training continues Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6.30pm. Remaining fixtures for Minor league are: Thursday, 12th May away v Lismore. Home v An Rinn (time and date tbc). All matches are 6.30pm throw.
