Public lighting sought on N72 in Cappoquin

- KATIE GLAVIN

It remains unclear as to when public lighting may be fixed near Padre Pio Rest Home in Cappoquin.

At a recent meeting of the Dungarvan Lismore District, Cllr John Pratt sought an update on the matter, asking whether any progress had yet been made on the issue.

Senior Engineer, Gabriel Hynes, said that there is currently no programme in place for lighting on the N72 road.

“Funding is needed from Transport Infrastructure Ireland and it’s something we haven’t prioritised yet in Cappoquin,” Mr Hynes said.

According to Cllr Declan Doocey, public lighting in this area has been an issue for some time, as he claimed it had been included as part of a previous planning application condition which never materialised.

“Padre Pio public lighting is on a national secondary road and we will look to TII for funding,” Mr Hynes responded.
