Over €3 million towards road reconstruction in Limerick
This month saw road resurfacing take place in the village of Galbally, Co Limerick, with the council reporting the works, which include two ramps, are due to be completed imminently. The works on the R662 (the Mitchelstown road) total €150,000 and encompass 550 metres of road. The village is also due to see road reconstruction on the R663 and at Garnalyna.
Under the same schedule, local roads in Glenbrohane (both Ahern’s Road and Glenlary) will see road reconstruction works to the tune of just over €69,000, as will Ballyduff in Ballylanders and Ballyferode in Glenroe. €103,000 has been put aside for the main street in Kilfinane under the ‘local roads’ section of the schedule, while just over €30,000 will be spent on 500 metres of road in Ballyorgan.
Surface dressing on one kilometre of road resurfacing in Kilfrush, Knocklong will be completed, as will another kilometre of works in Darragh. Ballyferode in Glenroe will also see 500 metres of surface dressing at a cost just shy of €12,000. Glenlary in Garryspillane will get the same treatment as will the Black Road in Galbally, Cullane North in Ballylanders and Tully, Glenroe.
Drainage works on 220 metres of road will be undertaken in Lissard, Galbally totalling €25,000, and also in Ballyferode, Glenroe where €15,000 will be spent on 100 metres of road.
Under the entire Schedule of Municipal District Works for 2022, 66 kilometres of road will be upgraded in the Cappamore-Kilmallock district. Road reconstruction will cost €3,282,278 and surface dressing another €1,007,453.
