Five callouts for local fire unit

Mitchelsto­wn Fire Brigade were called to five incidents in the last week, all quite different, showing the range of roles the rescue service plays.

On Thursday morning at 5am, the unit were called to an ambulance assist, and that evening were also called to a case of a fire alarm activation.

Sunday morning saw the unit called to an incident off New Square in Mitchelsto­wn, where two pedestrian­s in their 40s were involved in a traffic collision with a van. On Sunday evening also near the town, the unit were called to clean-up after another traffic incident.

Finally, on Wednesday evening the local unit were out again, this time to Glennon Brothers in Fermoy where they assisted the Fermoy Fire Brigade in tackling a loader fire, which was brought under control quickly.
