Busy time for IUNVA Post 25
It has been a busy time for IUNVA Post 25 recently. On Sunday, 8th May we did a wreath laying ceremony, at Thomas Kent’s grave in Castlelyons Churchyard. It was held after mass and a good crowd attended. Cork County Council was represented and laid a wreath, 4 bn association was there as well and laid a wreath.
James Ronan on behalf of Post 25 laid the 3rd wreath. Tom McCarthy was MC and gave us some info on Thomas Kent. Eddie Foley and PJ O’Leary read two poems and Rev Fr Coleman blessed the Grave. Last post was sounded by Philip Dunphy, assisted by 2 drummers, from Fermoy Concert Band. Big thank you to all who attended and helped in any way.
On Friday, 6th May, we held a presentation to mark the moving on of Frank Fairhurst, house secretary, for over the past 2 years. Frank was a very kind and pleasant person and no job was too big or too small. His skills on the computer were fantastic. Tom McCarthy wished him the best in the future on behalf of Post 25. Niall Corcoran has taken up the position now and we wish him the best of luck as well.
The next event is the Annual wreath laying ceremony at Queen of Peace Church at 3pm (15.00 hrs) on Saturday, 11th June. Notification has been sent to all families and post at this stage. We will start at 3.00 with mass, followed by wreath laying and refreshments. A large attendance would be appreciated
Next meeting Thursday, 25th May, keep an eye on text for time etc.
