- BY PADDY RYAN

St Oliver Plunkett’s 1-12 Grange 0-7

A youthful Oliver Plunkett’s side emerged winners over Grange in the Co JBFC (1) at Donoughmore on Sunday evening.

Colin Scott had the opening score for Grange and the Avondhu side forced a penalty when Josh Irwin was fouled. However, Brian Cashman’s effort went narrowly wide. Michael Keohane pointed for the Carbery side with Roy O’Driscoll with rapid points opening up a 0-3 to 0-1 lead. Sean Crowley then added a point in the 10th minute.

Grange battled back well. Gavin Dawson pointed a long range free and Trevor Hynes cut the lead to a point by the end of the first quarter. Oliver Plunkett’s did well in the second quarter, with Padraig Healy in great form in defence. Both sides exchanged points with the winners ahead at the break by 0-7 to 0-5.

The winners continued to dominate on the restart. They used the short passing to good effect and by the 36th minute they were 0-10 to 0-5 clear. Sean O’Donovan added another point. Grange had just two points in this half by Niall McCarthy and a Gavin Dawson free, as the winners registered their goal by Padraig Healy in the 52nd minute.
