U12

Our U12s kicked off their league campaign on Thursday, 12th May when they welcomed Brickey Rangers to Ballyduff. Both teams put on a great exhibition of camogie with some fantastic skill and work rate. It was clear to see all the training our girls have been doing over the past few weeks is paying off as they put in a great performance in a very close and contested match. Unfortunately our girls just fell short in the end and Brickeys ran out winners on the night on a final score of Ballyduff 4-01 Brickey Rangers 5-5.

Well done girls on a mighty effort and big thanks to our coaches John Lynch, Therese Twomey and Rachel Foley for all their hard work behind the scenes. Onto the next one girls!

U16

Our U16 continued in their league winning ways with a victory over neighbours Tallow on Tuesday, 10th May. Our girls started slow in the first half but found their rhythm after 15 minutes with some excellent scores from our forwards

and some great defending by our backs.

The second half was all Ballyduff as our girls piled on the pressure on the Tallow defence. Our girls worked extremely hard and were fully deserving of their victory with the match finishing on a scoreline of Ballyduff 7-10 Tallow 1-04.

Well done girls on an excellent performance and big thanks to our coaches Shane Feeney, Breda Kenny, Willie Hogan and Martina

Hogan for all their work behind the scenes. That concludes the U16 league round robin until August (due to summer exams) however challenge matches will be held for U16s over the course of May, June and July.

MINOR LEAGUE

Our young minor team played their second league match on Thursday, 12th May when we travelled to neighbours Lismore. The match was played as 13-a-side and our girls started brilliantly and raced into a 3 point lead after five minutes. However Lismore came into the game half-way through the first half and picked off some great goals and points which left our girls with a mountain to climb in the second half. Lismore continued to torment our defence in the second half as they piled on the pressure. To their credit, our girls answered back with some great points and were extremely unlucky with a number of goal chances that just missed the target and brought some great saves from the Lismore goalkeeper.

In the end Lismore ran out comfortable winners on a scoreline of Lismore 6-08 Ballyduff 0-07 but our young stars can hold their heads high after putting in a gallant effort against an older, more physical outfit in Lismore. It’s great for our girls to get the experience of playing minor camogie with the majority of our current squad eligible for minor for 2 more years! The focus of minor this year for our club is all about development and giving the girls the experience of what minor camogie means.

Well done girls ye have done our club proud - onto the next one! Big thanks again to our coaches Shane Feeney, Breda Kenny, Martina and Willie Hogan for all their work behind the scenes.

Minor team vs Lismore: Millie Feeney, Nora Ahern, Maebh Landy, Katie Kenneally (JC), Ailish O’Donovan, Ellen Hogan (JC), Niamh Ryan, Maeve Hickey, Molly Kenneally, Kate Ahern, Emer Collins, Sibhe Collins, Grace Kenny. Subs used: Laura Kenny for Emer Collins. Absent - Sinead Branagh.
