Strong showing by Lismore cricketers

-

The 1st XI from Lismore Cricket Club played their first home game of the season on Saturday, May 6, with a comprehensive victory over Limerick 4XI in Division 3 of the MCU League.

Lismore started strongly, taking 3 wickets for only 4 runs in the opening 4 overs from Michael Talbot and Gireesh Nair. Both bowlers remained dominant, keeping Limerick to 15/5 in the 9th over. Ardasha then took the ball and in his opening over of the season took 3 wickets leaving them 16/8 by the 10th over.

Limerick managed to get to a total of 37, before being bowled at the end of the 12th over.

The opening batsman of Bineesh and club stalwart David Campion saw them reach 36, before Bineesh chopped onto his wicket and Adeel was run out the following over. David Campion and Adrian Stack saw Lismore through with an 8 wicket victory.

Given the game was so short, both teams played a Taveners T15 match to give them some more game time on the grass wicket. This was played in good spirits and ended up being a better quality and more competitive game than the league fixture.
