Intermediate hurlers complete county league with perfect record

Our intermediate Hurlers maintained their 100% record in the County League last Saturday with a three-point win over Ballybacon-Grange on a scoreline of 0-18 to 2-09 in Ballyporeen.

Skeheenarinky had the better of the opening half and led at the interval on a scoreline of 0-10 to 1-05 with scores coming from Noel Vaughan (0-03), Tomas Vaughan (0-02f), Danny Barrett (0-02) and a point each from Dean Finn, Tommy Sweeney and Riain Hennessey. Ballybacon responded with a goal to keep in contention and the 2-point lead at the break was a fair reflection of the early exchanges.

In the second period, Skeheenarinky maintained their lead but were rocked by a second Ballybacon goal before eventually running out 3-point winners on the referee’s scorecard. Scores in the second half came from Tomas Vaughan (0-4, 0-03f), Dean Finn (0-02) and one point each from Tommy Sweeney and Danny Barrett.

The win was the side’s fifth league win from five outings and the focus now turns to the knockout stages. Well done to all involved and keep up the great work.

On the other side of Division 4, Boherlahan topped the group after a win over Shannon Rovers while Borrisokane came in second spot after a draw with Golden-Kilfeacle.

The club extends its congratulations to Ballyporeen Community Council who won the 2021 Pride of Place award for population category 300 to 1,000 in the INEC Killarney on Monday night. Well done to everyone involved and keep up the great work.
