Win for U15 team

-

U15 Fermoy 2 Crosshaven 1

Fermoy got off to a flyer, taken the lead inside 5mins, Paul Badeiki picked up the ball in midfield and ran at the defence he beat 3 players before laying off the ball to Joshua Dunlea who coolly slotted it past the goalkeeper for the perfect start.

Ryan Ahern then saw his rasping shot hit the crossbar. Patryk was then called into action and pulled off a great save before the break. HT 1-0.

As the game went on Crosshaven grew in confidence and were rewarded for their efforts with a well taken goal to level the tie. This was a must win game for Fermoy to keep their promotion hopes alive. Crosshaven were happy to sit back and soak up the pressure for the last 10mins and frustrated the home side.

A few switches and fresh legs made an instant impact the winning goal coming 5mins from the end. A through ball found Joshua who’s cross found the in-rushing Senan Ahern who made no mistake with a fine finish. Fermoy now move into 3rd with 2 games remaining.

U12 CUP Fermoy A 0 Park Utd 1

Fermoy bowed out of the Cup competition following a very closely played game at Carrig Park on Thursday, 12th May.

The boys faced off against division 4 team Park Utd in the final 32 stage of the cup. Fermoy took the tip off and pressed forward right away, Park but Utd defence turned over the ball and went straight down the centre for a shot on goal that went over the crossbar. Park Utd kept up tremendous pressure, but our defence and goalkeeper made hard work for the visitors.

Fermoy had a couple of chances and were unlucky not to score. Park Utd had more of the chances in the first half but again our team and keeper put on a great display of defensive play to keep the scoreline at 0-0 at half-time.

The second half showed Fermoy push forward a bit more again with a couple of chances, however the strong forward pressure for Park Utd paid off in a goal from a rebounded save. The game finished 0-1 to Park Utd.

Despite the loss, Fermoy put on a great display with every player giving it their all.

Special mention must go to David Morrisson who made some fantastic saves over the course of the game.

Following this game our season has come to an end, the boys have done tremendous work in getting to the final 32 in both Cup competitions and are awaiting a result for potential promotion. The boys have put in great effort and showed incredible teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the season. They have provided us with great entertainment and we are so very proud of them all.

Of course, we need to give thanks to Donald and his team; Sarah, Pa and Noel for giving up their valuable time to provide our boys with wonderful opportunities to learn and grow as footballers. The boys have not only learned skills for on the pitch but have also learned discipline, teamwork and most of all, fun. We all truly appreciate you as mentors for the team. We look forward to next season for more excitement and entertainment from this team.
