The matches are coming thick and fast at the moment. Some highlights from the past week.

LADIES FOOTBALL

Last Saturday, the Mitchelstown U12s put in a great display to beat Mallow in the North Cork

League.

Our U9s and U10s travelled to Cahir for challenge matches on Monday. The girls performances showed guts and talent, against two strong Cahir teams. The games are really bringing them on and every single girl impressed on the night.

ST FANAHAN’S CAMOGIE

The U11s travelled to Kilworth for a league match on Tuesday of last week. Despite the narrow defeat, the girls put in a fantastic performance.

St Fanahan’s U12s travelled to play Newtownshandrum last Friday for their first league match of the season. Both teams played some great camogie. Newtown were that bit sharper in front of goals and took the win. The next match is at home to Bride Rovers on Sunday.

Our U16s first league game of the year was away to Kinsale. The girls played really well in a tough physical game. After a tight first half, the St Fanahan’s girls had a strong second half, to win 3-9 to 2-6. Next up is a home game against Bishopstown this Friday.

The latest junior camogie fixture was away to Buttevent on Thursday of last week. It was a strong, physical contest. The St Fanahan’s girls played well and sealed a deserved victory.

CAMOGIE VICTORY SOCIAL

Last Friday, a victory social was held for the 2021 U14 camogie squad. The panel had an incredibly successful 2021, winning the U14B County League and the County Championship Plate. Thanks to our special guests on the night, Darragh Flynn and Thea Coleman, who presented the medals. And thanks also to everyone at Jackie O’Brien’s for hosting an enjoyable evening.
