‘A New Beginning’ for The Two Richies

-

Glanworth neighbours and musicians, Richie Rea and Richie Butler, aka ‘The Two Richies’, are at it again, this time with the release of their new CD which will benefit two worthy charities.

Following on from the tremendous success of their first CD (Corona Collection Vol. 1) and the overwhelming support they received from their friends, the local lads are in agreement that this new collection of popular favourites titled ‘Corona Collection Vol. 2 - A New Beginning’, will once again bring listeners ‘an hour or so of varied listening pleasure’.

The lads have been playing music together, simply for fun, all their lives and over the past seven years, have been members of the Cork Accordion and Fiddle Club, who used to gather monthly in Cork city prior to the pandemic, which brought a halt to the gatherings. However, thanks to the wonders of modern technology, they have adapted and continue to play music with their dear friends through ‘Zoom’ .

“Every Monday evening for two hours or so, we play great music with friends from all over Ireland, bonnie Scotland and Germany. We bring ‘social distancing’ to a new level in the comfort of our own homes,” the lads said.

Recording their entire collection remotely over the internet, they both had to learn new skills and create a virtual studio environment.

“Hopefully, from now on, things will begin to improve and we can all make a fresh start and a new beginning with our dear friends playing music, as we always did”.

“We would like to thank our friends in The Avondhu for launching our new CD and wish them all well through the coming year. We have all been through a very difficult time in our lives so maybe this is a good time to sit back and enjoy an hour or so of easy listening music”.

Sales from the new CD, which contains 23 tracks, will benefit both Marymount Hospice and Cork Cancer Care Centre.

“As before, the proceeds from the sale of the CD will be donated to the ‘unsung heroes’ in the frontline of Marymount Hospice Cork and also Cork Cancer Care Centre. We all know somebody, whether friends, family or relations who have been cared for, tirelessly, by these angels in disguise,” they said.

The new CD (€10) can be acquired by contacting the lads - Richard Rea (086) 1072878 or Richard Butler (086) 1694760.
