Larger numbers of cattle on offer in Corrin Mart this week. It was great that numbers increased this week with the large amount of customers looking for cattle.

All cattle were in great demand and trade was very lively indeed. Store cattle showed another step up in prices but the stars of the show were yet again the heavy, factory cattle with many customers bidding furiously for all strong cattle.

COWS

Larger numbers of dry cows met an amazing trade throughout.

Store cows: 400kgs to 550kgs making from €1.50 per kilo to €2.28 per kilo.

Heavier cows: 550kgs+ making from €1.88 per kilo up to €2.70 per kilo.

Charolais 690kg €1,850; Limousin 580kg €1,540; Friesians 560kg €1,340.

BULLOCKS

Another really strong trade for all cattle this week.

Light stores: under 350kgs made from €1.70 per kilo for plain Friesians up to €3.10 for Continenta­l bullocks. With AA/Hereford types making from €2.50 per kilo up to €3.03 per kilo.

Medium stores: 350kgs to 500kgs starting at €1.72 for Friesians up to €2.85 per kilo for Continenta­ls. AA/ Hereford bullocks made from €2.50 up to €2.90 per kilo.

Fwd. stores: 500kgs to 600kgs. The plainer Friesians started at €2.10 per kilo up to €3.05 per kilo.

Heavy bullocks: 600kgs+. Extraordin­ary demand for heavy bullocks making from €2.25 up to €3.20 per kilo.

AA 670kgs €2,090; Hereford 681kgs €1,980; AA 463kgs €1,210; AA 290kgs €880.

HEIFERS

Very strong trade for heifers again this week.

Store heifers: under 400kgs made from €2.22 up to €3.00 per kilo. AA/ Hereford averaged at €2.38 per kilo.

Butchers heifers: 400kgs+. These type heifers made from €2.40 up to €3.15 per kilo, with AA/Hereford averaging at €2.50 per kilo.

AA 540kgs €1,690; Hereford 660kgs €1,920; AA 226kgs €610; Hereford 535kgs €1,560.
