Ballygibli­n go down to Milford in Division 3 HL

Milford 2-15 Ballygibli­n 1-13 Two first half goals for Milford proved decisive as they took the Cavanagh’s of Fermoy Div 3 HL points from their game with Ballygibli­n in Milford on Sunday.

Milford opened with two early points. Ballygibli­n levelled with points by Eoin Burke and George Pendle (free).

They were also level at 0-3 each after 13 minutes. Jamie O’Connor had a goal for the home side at the end of the first quarter. The winners held a slight lead 1-4 to 0 -5 and 1-6 to 0-6 entering the second quarter. Peter Kirwan had two more points for the home side while Ballygibli­n replied with points by Sean O’Dwyer and George Pendle 1-8 to 0-8. In injury time Peter Kirwan goaled after a 3 man attack as they led at the break 2-8 to 0-8.

Throughout the second half Milford held a comfortabl­e lead. Ballygibli­n had their goal in the 45th minute by George Pendle 2-12 to 1-11. Seamus Barrett followed with a point for the visitors 2-12 to 1-12. Late points by John Cremin, Jamie O’Connor and Thomas O’Gorman helped Milford to a five point win. Best for Milford were Rory Biggane, John W Watson, Rory Villiers, Dylan HayesDaly, Peter Kirwan and Jamie O’Connor. For Ballygibli­n Jack Lewis, Seamus Barrett, Pa Molloy Sean O’Dwyer and George Pendle did well.
