Strong Castlelyons side have comfortable league win

Castlelyons 4-22 Milford 1-14 Castlelyons were impressive winners over Milford in the RedFM Co Div 2 HL at Castlelyons on Friday evening.

Throughout the game the winners dominated in the halfback line and midfield sectors, ensuring plenty supply to their attack who took some very good scores.

The sides were level 0-1 and 0-2 each early on. Milford edged ahead through Cillian O’Gorman.

Anthony Spillane levelled and Alan Fenton followed with a point. Peter Roche goaled for the home side with David Morrison following with a goal.

Brian Murphy kept Milford in touch with some good frees. David Morrisson had his second goal in the 26th minute. By half time Castlelyons were 3-10 to 0-7 ahead.

On the restart Milford did well for a while. Three rapid points by Brian Murphy (2) and Michael O’Flynn cut the lead 3-11 to 0-10.

Castlelyons upped the pressure and a series of points moved them 3-17 to 0-12 ahead.

Alan Fenton had his sides 4th goal. Late points by Anthony Spillane (2) and Alan Fenton had the winners comfortable victors in the end.
