WINNING RUN CONTINUES

-

Both our intermediate and junior hurlers continued their winning runs with high scoring league wins over Carrigaline and Kildorrery respectively in the past week. Both teams lined out without a number of regulars but still put in impressive displays to secure the league points on offer.

Kilworth 3-18 Carrigaline 1-19

Our intermediate hurlers made it six wins from seven games played in the penultimate round of the Red FM Division 2 hurling league played in Kilworth last Sunday afternoon. In doing so they have now progressed to the semi-final of the competition, which will provide another good game in preparation for championship which commences in late July.

Kilworth started well and led 2-2 to 0-3 after ten minutes, Noel McNamara and Jeremy Saich raising the green flags. We had a three-point advantage 2-7 to 0-10 at the interval. Our lead was extended to eight points 3-10 to 0-11 by the 40th minute with Eoin Carey finding the net. Carrigaline went on to have a spell of dominance to reduce their arrears to two points 3-13 to 1-17 with three minutes remaining on the clock. Kilworth upped it once more to finish strongly with points from Eoin Carey, Noel McNamara and Mikey Gowen opening a five-point advantage a minute into added time. Both teams raised two while flags each in the remaining injury time to see Kilworth prevail 3-18 to 1-19.
