Night for the young and young at heart
Stamina was the main requirement at last Friday night's very successful Kildorrery Juvenile GAA Social, held in Mitchelstown.
As usual, staff at The Firgrove Hotel did a great job hosting an event that had Cork senior hurlers, Sean O'Donoghue (Inniscarra) and Tim O'Mahony ( Newtownshandrum) as special guests. Both players had words of wisdom and encouragement for their youthful audience.
TEAM EFFORT
Kildorrery Juvenile GAA is fortunate to have very high calibre volunteers, who put in countless hours keeping this busy club ticking over. As with any large formal gathering, a great deal of preparation was required, so well done to the following for their input: Dave White, Shane O'Grady, Tracey McNamara, Maria Noonan, Brenda Coughlan and Joe Sherlock.
ENERGY BOOST
Keen that their young charges would have the required ' fuel' to last the evening, they were supplied with extensive amounts of ice cream and sweets - the bulk of which had disappeared by night's end. Well done to the boys and girls who received their medals on the night - this was reward for all their hard work.
YOUTHFUL DANCING QUEENS
In an era where equality is so important, we regret to say that the Kildorrery girls are head and shoulders above their male counterparts when it comes to the dance floor. Knowing all the moves and inventing a few of their own, these dancing queens put on a vintage display of footwork.
MORE CELEBRATIONS PLANNED
From what we could gather on Friday night, more club celebrations are planned for the month of March - the highpoint of which is a special tribute night for the history making Kildorrery intermediate county champions of 40 years ago.
So while stamina was no problem for those in attendance last Friday night, this may not be the case for members of the aforementioned team. Keep an eye on the Kildorrery GAA weekly reports in TheAvondhu for further details.
