Jimmy Buckley still has plenty pulling power
Jimmy Buckley attracted a capacity crowd to The Firgrove Hotel, Mitchelstown last Friday night with hardcore fans at the venue well in advance of the official start time of 10pm. One of the famous 'Three Amigos' - American, Robert Mizzell and Patrick Feeney being the others - the Galway entertainer was in great form from the off.
"It's great to be back in this wonderful part of the country, we're going to sing and dance the night away and I want you with me every step of the way," he told a cheering crowd.
This was a 'social dancing' event that attracted a mainly mature audience, many of whom follow Jimmy around Ireland and the UK. Someone with the common touch, if anything, his popularity continues to grow. A performer who has also toured extensively in America and Australia, his most recent venture is being part of dance nights in the Costa Del Sol in Spain. According to the man himself, it's full steam ahead for sunny Spain again this year.
"It's absolutely brilliant down there, the weather, food and music is fantastic. I think it will be booked out again this year," he said.
DELIVERING FOR PATRONS
Jimmy's philosophy is a simple one - give the paying public what they want and they will come back. This was certainly the case in The Firgrove last weekend with dancers quick to declare that this award winning country and Irish artist is one of the best in the business.
"I've been to loads of his shows and they are always first class. Hopefully, he'll be back in this neck of the woods before too long," one patron was quoted as saying.
