UPDATE: MALLOW-DUNGARVAN GREENWAY
The design team are beginning to identify a preferred route and will be engaging with the landowners over the next few weeks. There was a huge amount of feedback from the first public consultation and this has been incorporated into the plans.
A draft emerging preferred route is beginning to emerge, but the design team have stressed that this is still at an early stage and is subject to change as they engage with landholders and the public in the next stage of the project. Letters are being sent to all landowners along the route today and representatives from the design team will start calling in person to landowners along the route over the next few weeks to discuss the project. There will also be a second round of public consultation held later this year.
A greenway from Mallow to Dungarvan would be a great resource for local people in North Cork and also for developing our tourism industry. The Waterford-Dungarvan Greenway is one of the most successful in the country and it would be wonderful to tap into this. €300,000 was announced earlier this year to facilitate the design of the greenway.
