Deadline for membership approachin­g

The deadline for membership is fast approachin­g. If you wish to have voting rights at the AGM and to be eligible to submit your name to be considered for inter county tickets membership must be received on or before 31st March.

All players must have membership paid before taking to the field to train or play and must have membership paid before this date in order to be covered by the player injury fund. Player membership is €70. Student membership is €50 and non-player membership is €40. Ladies club members who wish to avail of social membership is €20.

FIXTURES

The 2023 club season commences this weekend with both Senior and Junior teams fixed to play the first round of the South league campaign. At the time of going to print the first round of the South Senior League is fixed to play Ballylande­rs at home on Saturday 25th at 3pm. The first round of the South Junior B League is fixed for this Sunday 26th versus Galbally at 6.30pm in Galbally. Please check social media as times and venues are subject to change.

NATIONAL DRAW WINNERS

The club were delighted to learn that they were one of the winners in National Club Draw. The National Club Draw is run by Croke Park each year with prizes being put up by Central Council with 100% of funds raised going directly to the club. The club sold tickets for this draw in January and had good support.

The draw took place in HQ on Thursday last and while we had no individual winner the club won €1,000 in the club specific draw which is a welcome bonus. Thanks to everyone who bought a ticket and supported the draw. Thanks to Eamon Phelan in the Limerick office for assisting also.

LIMERICK GAA ANNUAL REVIEW

The launch of the Limerick GAA 2023 Annual Review took place last Thursday 16th in Coolyroe by Limerick hurling manager John Kiely. The book is a 420page review of inter county and club activity over the past year. A club review from Galtee Gaels up to early December of last year including photos is included in the publicatio­n. Copies are on sale now.

THE CON AND ANNE KIRBY MEMORIAL RUN

One of the highlights in the Limerick GAA and greyhound racing calendar is back for another year. The Con and Anne Kirby Memorial Greyhound Run starts this Saturday night. Each GAA club is assigned a dog with the hope of going all the way and winning a top of prize of €10,000 for the club.

The event is generously sponsored by JP and Noreen McManus and runs each year in memory of Noreen’s parents, Con and Annie Kirby. The first round is this Saturday night and Galtee Gaels have drawn Borna Mick in Heat 6. Last year the club had great success, reaching the final and picking up a third-place prize. If Borna Mick finishes in the top three he will progress to the next round. There are five stages with the final date scheduled for 21st April.
