Tadhg is heading to Croke Park

- KILWORTH JUVENILE GAA

Unfortunately, the recent heavy rain put paid to a number of club games last weekend with Friday’s Fe18 Hurling game with Ballyhea and Fe14 Premier 2 Hurling game v Eire Og and Sunday’s Fe16 football match with Killavullen all being postponed due to unplayable pitches.

FE14 COISTE C3 HURLING Nemo Rangers 2-12 Kilworth Araglen Og 0-09

In the only game to survive the weather, on what was still a wet Sunday afternoon, Kilworth Araglen Óg travelled to Trabeg to take on Nemo Rangers in the first round of the Fe14 C3 hurling league.

Despite having a strong start and leading 5 points to one after 20 minutes, Nemo worked their way back into the game picking off several points before half-time. They followed with two goals and further points in the second half. However, in the final ten minutes we made a good effort for a comeback, but it was not to be on the day.

Team: James Kenneally, Sean Kelleher, Ciaran Crowley, Paddy O’Brien, Justin Gowen, Ben Feehan, Ruairi McCallum, Sean O’Loughlin, Harry O’Brien, Killian Ball, Kuba Ciosmak, Eoin Toland, Darragh Cooney, Shane Leddy, Bailey Browne. Subs (all used) – Aaron Buckley, Tadhg Aherne, Darragh Lynch.

GO GAMES ARE BACK

Weather permitting, Saturday next, March 25th sees the return of Go Games for our Fe9, Fe10 and Fe11 players. Organised by the GDA’s, the idea of this format is to give everyone a ‘go’, hence the name. Our Fe9 footballers will be in Ballynoe, whilst the Fe10s and Fe11s are pencilled in to play Kiltha Og and Mitchelstown Ballygiblin respectively again in football, in Kilworth on Saturday morning. Please note with all the rain recently, the pitches in Kilworth and Araglin are closed at the time of writing so please check in with mentors for the final venues and times.

TADHG IS HEADING TO CROKE PARK

How many young boys and girls dream of one day getting the chance to run out at Croke Park on one of the biggest days in the GAA calendar. For our own Tadhg Aherne, he has made that dream a reality as he has earned his spot on the team that will play at halftime during this year’s All-Ireland semi-final in July. Having first been selected as the representative of his primary school, Scoil Mháirtín, Tadhg headed to Pairc Ui Chaoimh last week as one of 51 boys competing for the opportunity to book their place at headquarters.

The competition required the participants to show their proficiency in a range of different skills and the standard on show was very high. Tadhg is a lad that rarely if ever leaves the hurley out of his hand and his hours of practice certainly paid off as he qualified to go forward to Croke Park as one of the top 3 finishers on the day. Well done Tadhg.

ST. COLMAN’S WIN O’CALLAGHAN CUP

Following the disappointment of exiting the Harty Cup competition at the quarter final stages earlier in the year, St Colman’s bounced back with a comprehensive 1-24 to 1-10 win over Gaelcolaiste Mhuire an Mhainistir Thuaidh in the O’Callaghan Cup final last week.

Liam Óg Hegarty scored 2 points from his corner forward position whilst Roan Riordan scored a point after being introduced as a second half substitute. Pierce Riordan who is a very important player for us was also involved in the panel. Well done lads.
