Brideview win nine goal thriller

-

U16 JOMA SPORTSGEAR DIRECT LOCAL CUP Brideview Utd 5 Mallow Utd 4

What a cracker we had in Leonard Fraser Park on Saturday morning last with United advancing to the next round. The game was only five minutes old when Corcoran set up McDonnell to blast to the net. Ten minutes later the sides were level as the visitors grabbed the equaliser.

Utd went back in front a few minutes later thanks to a great Wall goal. Once again Mallow struck back to leave the sides level. Then with time running out in the first half, Wall restored Utds one goal lead and after a cracking first half Utd led 3-2.

The second half the fans of both sides were treated to a repeat of the first. Mallow struck again to level the game for the third time. Once again Utd went in front, Corcoran beat the fullback before shooting low into the corner. Brideview back in front.

The visitors were not done yet. A free kick just outside the box ended up in Utd’s net to bring the sides level for the fourth time with just ten minute remaining. Once again Corcoran took on and beat the fall back before setting up Wall to score from close range and put Utd back in front for the fifth time.

Would the visitors come back once again? Despite trying hard to get another equaliser time ran out for them and United ran out winners after a terrific game.

Utd’s squad: Alex Good, Cian Murphy, Gearoid Hynes, Billy Murphy, Jack Henley, Joseph McDonnell, Xander van de Ven, Isaac Almeida, Dean Cronin, Ty Corcoran, David Wall, Nathan Mason, Ray Nugent, Brian Bourke, Brian O’Sullivan and Adam Pratt.
