Blackwater Search and Rescue unit attend St. Patrick’s Day parade

-

An early start was required for members of the Blackwater Search and Rescue unit to prepare both search and rescue boats for the Fermoy St. Patrick’s Day parade.

In what started off as a wet morning, thankfully dried off just in time to allow for a dry passing through the town for a large number of community groups, bands, sports clubs and Blackwater SAR to participate in another successful parade in the day.

It was great to see such large numbers turning out to line the parade route, all decked out in green, white and orange colours applauding each group as the preceded through the town. There was a great atmosphere around the town throughout the day that lasted well into the late afternoon and beyond.

After soaking up the atmosphere during the parade, alas we had to head back to the clubhouse with our boats, kit and ensure they were ready for the next outing, all the while being thankful for the community support shown to us in the day.

BLACKWATER SAR SET TO BENEFIT FROM COMMUNITY FUND

The Tesco Community Fund was launched to support local good causes in the communities around Ireland.

Every 12 weeks, each Tesco store donates up to €2,000 between three local good causes in the community.

Customers decide how their local Tesco Community Fund is shared by voting for their preferred cause in store by placing their blue token they receive at the checkout in the donation box of the local good cause they would most like to support.

For the current round of local groups we are delighted that Tesco Mitchelstown have chosen Blackwater Search and Rescue unit as one of three beneficiaries. We are grateful for their show of support to us.

Club members recently visited Rachel in Tesco Mitchelstown to launch Blackwater SAR unit’s participation. Thanks to Rachel for extending a warm welcome to us on the evening.

So now we ask for your support, and while shopping at Tesco Mitchelstown please support Blackwater Search and Recovery by placing your blue tokens in the BSAR box. All support would be hugely appreciated. Míle buíochas.
