Another busy week in Corrin Mart this week with a very large entry of cattle. With the weather finally settled, conditions have improved considerab­ly and grass is finally becoming plentiful. With all these positives, demand was very strong for all stock. All weights and breeds showed a marked improvemen­t on last week’s lively trade.

COWS

Very lively trade for dry cows. Store cows: 400kgs to 550kgs making from €1.40 per kilo to €2.20 per kilo. Heavier cows: 550kgs+ making from €1.85 per kilo up to €2.60 per kilo.

Hereford 795kg €2,010; Friesians 860kg €1,740; Friesians 685kg €1,540.

BULLOCKS

An extremely lively trade for all bullocks. Light stores: under 350kgs made from €1.80 per kilo for plain Friesians up to €3.52 per kilo for continenta­l bullocks. With AA/Hereford types making from €2.50 per kilo up to €3.45 per kilo.

Medium stores: 350kgs to 500kgs starting at €2.00 for Friesians up to €3.35 per kilo for Continenta­ls. AA/Hereford bullocks made from €2.45 up to €3.25 per kilo. Fwd. stores: 500kgs to 600kgs. The plainer Friesians started at €2.30 per kilo up to €3.30 per kilo. Heavy bullocks: 600kgs+: Good demand for heavy bullocks making from €2.45 up to €3.00 per kilo

Sax 570gs €1,870; AA 320kgs €1,130; AA 495kgs €1,480; Hereford 250kgs €810; Hereford 447kgs €1,370.

HEIFERS

Very strong trade for heifers. Store heifers: under 400kgs made from €2.20 up to €3.02 per kilo. AA/ Hereford averaged at €2.45 per kilo. Butchers heifers: 400kgs+. These type heifers made from €2.35 up to €3.05 per kilo, with AA/Hereford averaging at €2.65 per kilo.
