KNOCKANORE, GLENDINE AND KILWATERMO­Y COMMUNITY COUNCIL AGM

The KGK Community Council AGM took place on Tuesday evening 14th March in the KGK community hall. Denis Corkery Community Council chairman welcomed all attendees. Denis thanked all outgoing member for their service over the last number of years and welcomed all returning and new members. The secretary and treasurer reports were read and then the election of officers proceeded.

The new Community council officers, proposed and seconded, are as follows: Mary Casey CC chairperso­n and Jason Ahearne vice-chairman, Esther Power CC secretary and Christine Dalton assistant secretary, Angela O’Connell CC treasurer and Linda Hegarty assistant treasurer, Máire O’Brien CC PRO and Brian Harnedy assistant PRO. All in attendance were high in praise for the outgoing committee who steered the community council through the pandemic and have played a pivotal role in the many important community activities over the last number of years.

Many thanks to the outgoing committee Denis Corkery CC chairperso­n, Thomas Baldwin CC secretary, Kevin Maloney CC treasurer and Sinéad Lenehan CC PRO for their time and commitment to the Community Council. It is greatly appreciate­d.

LITTER PICKING

The KGK Community Council are organising ‘Litter picking days’. We would ask people to meet on Thursday, April 20th at Kilwatermo­y Church at 7pm. Litter pickers, gloves and bags will be provided, and teams organised to cover as many areas in the community as possible. All secondary school students are welcome to take part. All support and help would be greatly appreciate­d.

DARKNESS INTO LIGHT WALK

On Saturday, May 6th, the Community Council are organising the annual Darkness into Light Walk for Pieta House. We invite you to meet at the KGK Community Hall at 5.30am to walk together as a Community to support this very worthy cause.

FESTIVAL WEEKEND

Following the unmitigate­d success of our fete last year, the committee are already planning the activities for the festival that will take place the first weekend of July. As we get closer to the time a full program of activities will be communicat­ed so mark the weekend on the calendar.
