Team C on top
On Sunday morning ten teams of five were on the tee boxes for week one of The Corbett Court sponsored Spring League.
After week one Team C - Noreen Ryan, Seán Howard, Seamus Fox, Mary Quane, Abina McDonald are in the lead on a score of 144. Team B - Michael Gowen, Patsy O’Mahony, Michael McGrath, Sheila Hegarty and Terry Cleary are in 2nd place on a score of 147. Team I - Pat Houlihan, John C McCarthy, Liam Roche, Noel Scannell and Nan Downey are in 3rd place on a score of 149. Team G are next on a score of 151.
As the scores confirm, it is a close competition with not much between the top teams. As the weeks go by the leader board could change.
The following are the nett and gross winners. Ladies Helen Tobin on a score of 50. Gross Noreen Ryan on a score of 60. Gents nett Michael Gowen on a score of 44. Gross Tom Kennedy on a score of 53. Hole in one by Seán Howard at hole number 5. There will be no league competition this weekend, as the Cork County Board Ladies Matchplay will be held on our course on Saturday and Sunday. The league will resume on Sunday, 30th April and Sunday, 7th May, concluding with the final on Sunday, 14th May.
Thursday’s fourball competition winners with two scores to count at holes number 7, 8 and 9 were 1st nett John C McCarthy and Michael O’Meara (on the back 9) with a score of 55. 1st gross Seán Howard and Margaret Kiely (on the back 9) on a score of 66. 2nd nett Michael O’Keeffe and Nell Coughlan on a score of 55. 2nd gross Jerry Burke and Seán Hegarty on a score of 66.
Usual competitions continue on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. tee off 2.30pm. There will be no club competition on Sunday due to the Cork County Board Ladies Matchplay.
