Fermoy 2 St Marys 1

Fermoy advanced to the quarter final of the Pop Keller Cup following this win over First Division side St Marys on Friday night last. Fermoy took the lead just after halftime and had a couple of chances to extend their lead, the away team grabbed an equaliser just before the end to take the game to extra time.

A superb free kick in the second half of extra time was enough to progress, where they travel to play the winners of the Mayfield/Douglas Hall game.

Blarney 3 Fermoy 1

Fermoy U17 youths were in action in the quarter final of the Cup away to Blarney. The Fermoy lads were low on numbers due to injuries but still managed to put in a good challenge against a premier team, even taking the lead by going 1 nil up in the first quarter via a header from Adam. Blarney were awarded a free kick soon after which they squeezed past Bobby to level the tie to make it all level at half-time. Blarney got the better start to second half grabbing an early goal but Fermoy kept chasing until finally in the last quarter Blarney got a third to take the game. Thanks to Darren Dennigan for the new kit sponsorship.

U12 GIRLS

A welcome win this Saturday evening for the U12 schoolgirls at home to Kinsale. The away fixture last year was a close affair with our girls grabbing a one nil win. There were more goals on show as both teams were playing great football.

We opened the scoring in the game with a tidy finish from Katie McGann after 5 minutes. Kinsale equalised soon after with an unstoppable shot. Just before halftime we took the lead once again with Sofie Doyle firing home from just outside the box.

Leading at half time, the girls were full of confidence and they played some great passing football, while the defence kept Kinsale at bay with fantastic defending. Our scorers in the second half were Cliona Wall from 30 yards, Katie Clancy on her debut and an excellent corner ball from Sofie Doyle was deflected by a Kinsale player into their own net. A great day’s work from the girls who we are all so proud of, this includes the 14 today and the other 22 training every Wednesday.

GIRLS U13 PREMIER DIVISION College Corinthians 1 Fermoy 2

Fermoy FC U13 girls had a great 2-1 win over College Corinthians on Sunday in Corinthians Park. Amy Lavery put Fermoy ahead before a dodgy penalty saw Corinthians equalise before half-time.

Fermoy were the better team in the second half and Amyra Lavery grabbed a deserved winner.
