Jimmy Moher RIP

-

It was with great regret that Mitchelstown Ballygiblin Juvenile Club and the GAA Community as a whole learned of the death of our President Jimmy Moher.

As well as being a great footballer and hurler himself, Jimmy was a wonderful servant of the GAA in his lifetime and a founder member of Ballygiblin Hurling Club and the Mitchelstown Juvenile Club. He served in various capacities from treasurer to secretary to chairman in both our hurling and football clubs.

He gave unselfishly of his time, coaching at local level and as a delegate at both North Cork and County levels. Jimmy was a true gentleman who did so much for the club over his lifetime. We offer our sincere condolences to his wife Peggy, his family Patricia, Sean, Declan, Brendan, David and Áine. May he rest in peace.

U18 FOOTBALLERS EASE THROUGH TO LEAGUE FINAL

Our U18 footballers travelled to Kiskeam to play Sliabh Luachra Gaels in their fourth league game. The first of the scoring chances fell to the home side but fortunately for us all three chances went wide. Eoin Flynn opened the scoring with a well taken point from play, Kevin pointed a free followed shortly by Cian’s opening score. Sean then fisted the next move over the bar followed by a beautiful strike by Luke. Fifteen minutes gone Cian got his second point followed by another point from James from a tight angle. On the twenty minute mark Cian struck for his first goal, he followed this with two well worked points. Shortly before the half-time whistle Cian then struck for his second goal to leave the score 2-9 to 0-0 at half-time.

Again Sliabh Luachra started the better and reeled off three unanswered points inside the opening five minutes of the second half before Cian struck for his third goal of the night. This was followed up with points from Kevin, Davey, Luke and Oisin. Each player on the night played their part on what was probably our best performance of the year so far.

The work rate and energy from each player was outstanding. Special mention has to go to Cian who finished up scoring 3-4 on the night. The game finished 3-13 to 0-3. This result secured our place in the league final with a game to spare.

Team; Callum Burke, Simon Whelan, Oisin Hanrahan, Fionn Hanrahan, Luke Keane (capt), Eoghan Geary, Nathan Coltoan, Eoin Brenock, Caoimhin O’Gorman, Sean Barry, Eoin Flynn, James Keane, Cian English, Kevin Cotter, Paul Flynn, David Conroy, Daniel Whelan and Luke Cott.
