Cup action this week

-

It is mostly Cup action this week with games in U12 and U13 down for decision, while the U14 A league will also be decided. Best of luck to all teams and please send in your results as soon as possible.

APRIL 12TH U12 CUP Lismore 6 Ballybridge 0

Lismore had a big win in the U12 Cup with Shane Landers getting a hattrick for the winners. Mogeely 2 Castlebridge Celtic 2 (Castlebridge win 3-1 on penalties).

APRIL 13TH U13 CUP Lismore 3 Mogeely 0

Lismore continue their quest for a League and Cup double with another solid display to get the better of Mogeely in the U13 Cup. A goal from Ben McCormack helped Lismore to a slender halftime lead. However the home side scored again ten minutes into the second half with a Jerry Morrison strike.

The result was finally put to bed with a fine solo effort from Michael O’Gorman to send Lismore through to the semi-final where they will be away to Inch United.

U13 CUP Inch United 6 Ardmore 1

The home side turned in a fine second half display to overrun an Ardmore side that haven’t had a game in a while and they ran out of steam in the second half. The first half saw Inch United dominate in terms of possession and chances but John O’Brien in the Ardmore goal was proving hard to beat. Indeed it was the visitors that took the lead as Tom Howard latched onto a through ball and slotted past the keeper for the lead. It continued to be tight but Inch United were on top and finally the pressure paid off with an equaliser from Oscar Power leaving it 1-1 at the break.

On the restart Inch United continued to dominate and ten minutes in they went in front with Power again on target. Ardmore pushed hard to level but fell further behind with a quick break leaving them exposed with Inch United going 3-1 in front with a goal from Eoin Murphy. It was not game over but Ardmore were struggling as the home side grew in confidence.

Three goals in the closing six minutes with Power completing his hat trick and one from Kelly Asibor put a gloss on the scoreline in a game that was tight for 40 minutes as Ardmore had not played since 11th February. Inch United will now face Lismore in the semi-final.

U13 CUP Brideview 3 Kilworth Celtic 1 AET

This was another tight affair between two evenly matched sides. While Brideview dominated possession they fell behind to a first half strike and trailed 1-0 at the interval. The home side drew level midway through the second half and while both sides had chances it remained 1-1 at full time. In extra time Brideview were the stronger side and they added two goals to progress to a semi-final meeting with either Cappoquin/ Railway or Ballyduff Rovers.
