Senior league well underway

-

St Catherine’s 3-20 Ballygarvan 1-4

St Catherine’s Senior Camogie team travelled to Ballygarvan on Monday last and got their league campaign off to a flying start on what was, a gloriously sunny evening, with a strong win over Ballygarvan. This puts us in a good position after news of a walk over from Courcey Rovers in the first round of the league.

Saint Catherines lined out with a team that was a mixture of youth and experience. It was a tough, physical game but all the training the girls have been doing paid off as their superior fitness and skill level made a difference. There were exceptional displays of skill in defence and trojan work in midfield, linking up play.

All the players worked ferociously, and our forwards reaped the rewards of this great team effort, leading to some really impressive scoring.

U16 P2 LEAGUE

Our U16 ladies made their way up to Douglas last Friday evening for their opening league game. It was a closely contended game and the girls put in a gutsy display and with a missed goal opportunity in the final minutes unfortunately, we were defeated. Final score St Catherines 3-9 Douglas 5-6.

FÉILE

The U15 team are looking forward to the Féile competition on this Saturday. This is always a very exciting competition and eagerly awaited by all the girls. It all kicks off in Na Piarsaigh GAA Grounds, with our first match v Erins Own due to start at 2pm. The girls will also face Bandon and Na Piarsaigh in their group. Best of luck girls and enjoy every minute.

We’d also like to acknowledge and congratulate a lot of these girls who were part of the winning team at East Cork Football Féile last weekend in Ballinacurra. Fantastic achievement for all players and mentors in this newly formed club. Well done to all involved.

MINORS

The Minors got their 13-a-side league underway this week with their first match taking place on Wednesday, 19th April away v St Vincent’s.

U12

Our neighbours in Castlelyons invited the U12s over on Saturday morning last. We had 21 girls decked out in the purple and yellow, great to see such enthusiastic numbers. Players were rotated, allowing every girl touches on the ball. The girls really got going in the second half, marking their opponents well and fighting diligently for the ball.

We were evenly matched with our opposition and the game was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Many thanks to Castlelyons for inviting us over.

CORK GIRLS

We wish Faye Sheehan, Emma Twomey and their Cork U16 B teammates the very best of luck as they make their way to Mallow this coming Friday 21st to take on Limerick in the Munster Final. We are all behind

you girls. Corcaigh Abú! NOMINATE OUR CLUB

We would really appreciate if all our supporters would nominate St Catherine’s Juvenile GAA, Camogie, and Ladies Football Club to be in with a chance to raise much needed funds. This can be done so by visiting the Kellogg’s Cúl Camp online site and codes can be found on Kellogg’s cereals.
