Karen and Mike team up to produce debut single
In demand music producer, Mike Roche from Greenhill, Fermoy has never been busier. Combining his day job as manager of retail chain, Iceland, with his music commitments isn't easy, however, Mike is relishing the opportunity to work with some of the country's best up and coming musical talent. He didn't have to travel too far to link up with Fermoy singer, Karen Comerford, whose single 'Time' he edited and produced.
Karen, a 20-year-old School of Music (Cork) student, was at Mike's 'Hillview Studios' last weekend to oversee the finishing touches to the single, which is due out on Friday, 5th May and will form part of Karen's set, when she performs in Cheers Bar, Fermoy on Sunday, 7th May. Karen is no stranger to the venue, where she has featured in the Sunday Sessions - one of the few opportunities for young singers to showcase their talent.
Karen is delighted with how her debut single has turned out and glowing in her praise of Mike, whose expertise was invaluable.
"Mike was really helpful and put in a huge effort to make sure the song was the best it could be," she said.
Inspired by the likes of Taylor Swift and Katie Perry, Karen, who has her own Instagram page, is aiming at the ultra competitive pop market and hopeful of getting some radio air play in the coming weeks. Heavily involved with Fermoy Musical Society, she's had a lifelong interest in music and continues to be mentored by her musician father, Paul, a founder member of the band 'Grass Margin'. Mike Roche's pedigree is equally impressive, being the grandson of the late, great, Charlie O'Keeney, a very accomplished musician in his day.
Together, Karen and Mike make a great team, whose combined talents could mean we will be hearing a lot more about them in the months and years ahead.
