SHOWGROUNDS TO HOST FERMOY CAR BOOT SALE
The Showgrounds in Fermoy, the home of Fermoy Rugby Football Club (RFC) is set to host the town's very own Car Boot Sale.
Held in aid of Fermoy RFC, committee members said they hope to see a ‘good turnout’ at the event in the hopes of raising some much-needed funds for the local club.
Committee member, Peter O’Donoghue, noted that it is hoped that funds raised through the Car Boot Sale will help supplement their lotto fundraiser.
“The main thing the funds will be put towards is lights. We need new lights and we need to upgrade them. Whatever is raised will be used for that, for equipment and for the maintenance of our facilities.
“It’s on at the rugby grounds which is the old Showgrounds. I remember the shows that used to be there before so it will be nice to bring some activity to the area and we’re hoping to get some buskers in as well to play music, so it will be a nice social outlet as well and you might be able to pick a bargain too,” Mr O’Donoghue said.
Fermoy RFC boasts members from across the region, catering to locals from the town as well as those from Ballyduff, Kilworth, Bartlemy, Rathcormac, Ballyhooly, Tallow and Conna.t
Catering for teams from U6 right up to adults, Fermoy RFC train through the months of September until March or April each year.
THIS SATURDAY
According to Mr O’Donoghue, the grounds are a hive of activity during this time, particularly on Saturdays. However, as the summer months are ‘off-season’, now is the opportune time for such fundraising events on-site.
“We’re hoping for a good turnout. We’re hoping for the best. We’ll see what happens but if it is a success, we’re hoping to hold it again next month and throughout the summer,” he added.
Fermoy Car Boot Sale takes place at The Showgrounds, P61 X596, on Saturday, May 6 from 7.30am until 2pm.
