Locals compete with distinction in Waterford County Scór na bPáistí final
This was the first Scór na bPaistí in the county since 2019 and to see the smiles on all the young faces as they performed on Sunday, April 23rd in Cappoquin community Centre was a heart warming experience for all.
Primary school children from Bunscoil Bhóthair na Naomh, Lismore, Ardmore, Sliabh gCua, Fews, Clashmore, Garranbane, Sean Phobail, Fourmilewater, Garranbane, Ballyduff Upper, Cappoquin, Scoil Gharbhán, Stradbally, Abbeyside and Scoil Náisiúnta na Rinne gave us a wonderful afternoon’s entertainment in the best of Irish music, song, dance and story telling.
Taylor Murray did a super job as Bean an Tí and kept the whole show moving along with the minimum of fuss. Adjudicators Mattie Fahey, Karen Walsh and Tara Comerford had a hard task to pick the top 3 with the abundance of talent in the competition.
Irish Cultural Officer Antóin Breathnach presented the medals on the day. The shield for ‘Best Performance of the Competition’, dedicated to Mary Fitzgerald of Ballinroad for her great work throughout the years, was presented by Tina and Anne Fitzgerald to Amy Ní Ríordáin, Scoil Gharbhán, who sang beautifully in the solo singing competition.

Our thanks to our Scór committee, Bean an Tí , adjudicators, quizmaster, photographer, sound technician and committee in Cappoquin Community Centre. Without all of your help, the Waterford County final would not have happened.
A huge thank you to all our teachers, mentors and parents. We know you all have busy lives and we thank you for your support.
But the biggest thank you goes to all of our fantastic girls and boys who represented their schools and clubs with pride. We are so proud of you all!
Overall, it was an excellent day and we hope to see you all again and more in 2024!
