Clondulane natives release ‘Rebels for Ryan’ fundraising CD

- KATIE GLAVIN

Clondulane natives, Sean and Ned Quirke, have released a new CD in a bid to raise funds for Carrick-an-Suir man, Ryan O’Dwyer.

In early July 2022, Ryan was involved in a serious road traffic accident on his way home from work. He has since undergone two brain operations and has suffered severe spinal injuries which has, unfortunately, left Ryan paralysed from the chest down.

Ryan has suffered life-changing injuries as a result of the incident, but remains positive.

Going forward, he will require rehabilitation therapy and medical treatment and the new CD, titled ‘Rebels for

Ryan’, is aimed at helping alleviate long-term costs associated with his injuries.

All proceeds from the recently released CD ‘Rebels For Ryan’ will support the Ryan O’Dwyer Fund and go towards the longterm costs associated with his injuries.

Sean Quirke, a native of Clondulane and Fermoy is a retired postman out of Clonmel Head Post Office, where he worked for 35 years. It was through his job that Sean said he got to know Ryan O’Dwyer.

Ned Quirke, who still resides in Fermoy, works as a head maintenance man in a nursing home in Cork City.

“Ned and myself have played music and sang together for the past 40 years.

“I left Clondulane in 1972 and went to England for a while. I played with a lot of big bands over the years and did a lot of relief work and charity work,” Sean said.

LIMITED AVAILABILTY

Rebels for Ryan features a host of Irish songs such as ‘Sean South of Garryowen’, ‘The Old Dungarvan Oak’ and ‘Forty Shades of Green’.

Songs on the new CD are performed by Sean and Ned, while music arrangements are by Tony and Thomas Ryan of M C Studios Clonmel.

Only 500 copies of the CD were printed, meaning that there is limited availability on the sale.

Currently, ‘Rebels for Ryan’ is available in various shops in Clonmel or via Sean or Ned Quirke. For more information, contact Sean at (087) 2670093.
