Busy summer ahead for Junior club

This weekend following completion of their coaching, our Red Ball U8s and Orange/ Green Ball U12s will take part in an in-house tournament organised by our Junior officers Aidan McNamara, Catherine Rea and head coach Stephen McInerney. This is fantastic developmen­t of our Juniors as it prepares them for proper matchplay. Well done to all involved.

As part of our teen players developmen­t some of our adult members joined them at Friday’s session, arranged by their mentor Alan and our Junior officers. Great hitting and preparatio­n for competitio­n for our young players.

This week we received equipment as part of the Tennis Ireland Junior Kids programme. The aim of ‘ TI Junior Kids’ is to further the developmen­t of Under 10s’ tennis in Ireland, through coaching education and support, and by creating a clear competitio­n pathway. We are privileged as a club to be one of 22 clubs in Munster involved in this programme. Beginners always wel

come. WINTER LEAGUE PHASE II

We still have 3 teams in the Winter League. Our grade 2 and 5 men have qualified out of the group stages of the competitio­n to the eliminatio­n stages.

Our grade 6 ladies are into the quarter-final stage. We wish our three teams the very best as the competitio­n progresses.

FIXTURES

Grade 6 ladies play Ballinloug­h at home on Saturday at 11am. Grade 2 men will play away v Crosshaven at 10am on Sunday, 7th May. Grade 5 men wáill play at home v Lakewood Sunday, 7th May at 12pm. Best of luck to all teams, all support appreciate­d.

SOCIAL TENNIS

Our next Social Tennis evening is Friday, May 12th at 6.30pm - come along and join us for tennis and a cuppa. Members and non members welcome.

ADULT COACHING

Our adult coaching continues with almost 40 members and beginners participat­ing over two nights.

JUNIOR NEWS

Our junior matchplay tennis continues every Sunday morning. Red Ball 5-8 years 9.30am to 10.30am. Orange/Green Ball 9-12 years 10.30am-11.30am. New members welcome to come along and try it out.

QUIZ NIGHT

Save the date! The club will hold a fundraisin­g table quiz on Friday, 26th May in Jackie O’Brien’s Mitchelsto­wn at 8.30pm. Raffle on the night. Great night assured!
