Club development work progressing
PHASE 2 BEGINS NEXT WEEK
Construction began this week on Phase 2 of our club development plan with the installing of our new Floodlighting system in Glenville pitch. This again is a massive undertaking by the club and will ensure night games and training during both sides of the calendar year. This is a hugely expensive project undertaken by the club costing well in excess of €200k. We hope you will continue to support our lotto and various other fundraising. The astro and gym will still be in use, with roadside parking only.
U12
Glenville secured a well-deserved win over Erin’s Own in their U12 Gaelic football match. The spectators witnessed an excellent defensive display from Ronan Lehane, Max Conway, James McDermott, Austin Fahey, and Alex Downey, who prevented Erin’s Own from scoring during the first half.
Glenville’s forwards, including Sam Leary, Robbie O’Leary and Cian Murphy, showed their attacking prowess, skillful ball handling and scoring abilities. Sean Fenton was in fine form, scoring a goal and two points. Although Erin’s Own managed to score two goals, Glenville’s defense prevented a comeback, and
Fionn Healy and Donagh McHugh’s scoring secured Glenville’s victory, making it their second consecutive win. However, to enjoy the spoils later in the summer, Glenville will need to improve their performance going forward. Nonetheless, it was an entertaining and competitive game, and both teams’ talented defenders and forwards played their hearts out.
GAELIC FOR MOTHERS AND OTHERS
Well done to the 13 G4MandO ladies who took to the field against Kilshannig in an entertaining and energetic game in Glanworth on Sun as part of Glanfest. Special mention to our 2 debutants who acquitted themselves wonderfully.
Training continues each Thursday evening in Glenville GAA at 8.30pm. New players always welcome, no experience necessary, just enthusiasm and no judgement. Contact 087-279 9956.
