Fé12s come up just short against Mitchelstown

-

Mitchelstown 3-07 Kilworth Araglen Óg 2-06

On Monday evening last, the Fé12 footballers travelled to Mitchelstown for the 3rd round of the league. There was some great football on show on an excellently turned-out pitch. Kilworth Araglen Óg started well and led for most of the first half but two late goals gave Mitchelstown a slender half time lead on a score-line of 1-03 to 2-01.

The game continued in nip and tuck fashion for the second half with very little to separate the sides. Both teams exchanged scores with Kilworth Araglen Óg adding a further 1-03 to their tally however Mitchelstown managed to just about stay ahead to eventually run out the winners by 3-07 to 2-06.

Team: Mickey Hurley, Dylan Mee, Jack Condon, Ronan O’Driscoll, Daragh Lynch, Bobby Kiernan, Darragh Crowley, Michael Quirke, Jason Dunleavy, Charlie O’Brien, Paul Óg Philpott, Culann Russell, Tadgh Ahern. Subs: Cian Condon, Cian Dillon, Fionnán Looney, Finn Murray.

FÉ14S LOSE OUT IN CRACKER TO CARRIGALINE Carrigaline 2-09 Kilworth Araglen Og 2-06

Last Thursday evening, our Fé14 hurlers travelled to Carrigaline looking to put our loss to Eire Óg behind us. We had a great start with our backs playing far tighter than the previous game and proceeded to hold Carrigaline out until the 18th minute when they registered their first score. At the other end, we continued to test and probe their backline and went 4 points up before the break.

As expected, Carrigaline came out the in second-half firing on all cylinders, and we didn’t have the same stranglehold in the middle third as in the opening half. At this stage, Carrigaline started to pull back the lead and knocked in a goal mid-way through the half to go a point ahead. We responded almost immediately with a return goal to put us back in front, however this was short lived as they scored a second major to go 3 points ahead.

Despite our best efforts in the remaining minutes of the game, we couldn’t close the gap and eventually lost out by 3 points on a scoreline of 2-09 to our 2-06. The coaches couldn’t fault any of the players who put in a superb effort throughout the game and were only denied in the final quarter. We would also like to wish the Carrigaline player who picked up a bad injury in the closing moments a very speedy recovery and wish him all the best.

Team: Darragh Collins, Ciaran Crowley, Jack Cotter, Paddy O’Brien, Paudie Hurley, Sean Riordan, Harry O’Brien, Oran Hegarty, Evan Gowen, Bailey Browne, Conor Lynch, Killian Ball, Kuba Ciosmack, Danny Kenneally, Luke Browne. Subs: Darragh Cooney, Eoin Toland, James Kenneally, Justin Gowen.

ST. MICHAEL’S PROVE FAR TOO STRONG IN P2 FOOTBALL LEAGUE

On Monday morning last, Kilworth Araglen Ogs Fé14 footballers took on table toppers St Michael’s in Kilworth in the penultimate round of the Premier 2 league. This tie would have been a significant challenge with a full squad as St. Michael’s are an excellent footballing side, however for various reasons we were short many of our strongest players, which made the task insurmountable.

Despite the challenge, there were still plenty moments where we played good football, providing support play, and taking our chances when they came. St Michael’s ran out with an easy win, but credit to our lads who continued battle through adversity.

Squad for the day was: Bailey Browne, Ciaran Crowley, Conor Lynch, Danyl Pierce, Darragh Collins, Darragh Cooney, Eoin Toland, Harry O’Brien, Jack Cotter, Justin Gowen, Killian Ball, Kuba Ciosmack, Luke Browne, Oisín Dillon, Paudie Hurley, Peter Hynes, Peter Sarsfield, Ruairi McCallum, Ryan Pierce and Sean Kelleher.

CUL CAMP

This years Cul Camp will be held in Kilworths GAA grounds from Monday, June 26th to Friday, June 30th. The kids thoroughly enjoy the week which is full of fun and games and it also brings them on in terms of their skills as they spend the majority of the time with a football or sliotar in their hands.

The rules around organisation of the camp dictate that we must have a set ratio of coaches to children attending the camp and as we have now exceeded this ratio, booking has been closed. We can however reopen the booking process if we can increase the number of coaches. If any coaches are available to help out over the week, even if it’s just for a day or two, can you please contact Alan Kenny 0868536501 with your details ASAP.

COMMUNION

Congratulations to all the pupils of Scoil Mhuire in Araglin who received their Communion last Saturday and best wishes to the pupils of Scoil Mháirtín in Kilworth who will receive their First Communion next Saturday.
