Under 11s reach quarter finals

-

Fermoy 5 - Springfield Ramblers 2

A super result for our U11s who now advance to the quarter-finals of the U11 Cup. 84 teams started out in this competition and to progress to the last 8 where they face College Corinthians. This is a super achievement from our full squad. We are so proud of this group who keep improving week on week.

UNDER 14 Crosshaven 3 Fermoy 7

A tough away assignment for Fermoy U14s last weekend against top of the table Crosshaven AFC. Played in glorious weather on fabulous facilities. The teams were very evenly matched as they were when we played earlier in the season - a match we lost 3-1.

Fermoy took the lead - a great run by Steven played in Fionn (captain for the day) to make it 1-0. Unfortunately, we gifted two goals to Crosshaven soon after to go into the break 2-1 down, after some great saves by Lucas. Some strong words were spoken at half time to get more fight and determination into the team and it had the desired effect. Tadhg equalised from a free kick before Steven made it 3 from a great run and finish. Soon after Fionn broke into the box only to be taken down - penalty, yellow card - goal by Tyler.

Crosshaven brought it to 4-3 with another penalty. A great ball from Ger sent Fionn through again in the box only to be taken down again - penalty, 2nd yellow card - goal by Tyler.

With Crosshaven down a man Fermoy scored two late goals from Steven and a powerful strike from Ger. It finished 7-3.

A great defensive performance from Dylan, Adam, Lewis and Tadhg. Solid in the middle with Corey, Tyler, Charlie, Jack and Arran, plus all three front players Steven, Ger and Fionn scored. Well done all.

Fermoy FC 1 Innishvilla FC 1

Our under 12 schoolgirls played their penultimate game of the season on Saturday morning. Sofie Doyle opened the scoring in the first half with a stunning strike from 30 yards after 10 minutes. The away side then drew level soon after with a stunning solo run from the half-way line to finish in the corner of the net.

The heat started to take effect on the girls then with tiredness kicking in as there was plenty of scrambling efforts to get the ball away from both defences inside their areas. The half-finished one a piece and there was much of the same in the second half with very few chances.

We will go again against Leeside this coming Thursday to wrap up the season.

MUNSTER SENIOR LEAGUE Fermoy 0 Lakewood 1

Disappointing night for the Seniors on Friday as a late goal for Lakewood was enough to take away all 3 points on the night. Not much time to feel sorry for ourselves as we host Passage on Wednesday night at home kick off 7.45pm.

Special thanks tonight to Ricky Ivory who stepped in when the referee didn’t show.
