Killavullen Community Council AGM was held last Tuesday evening. At the AGM all outgoing officers were re-elected, Marion Regan as chairperson, Mary Notter as secretary and Hilary O’Kelly as treasurer.

A recap of community initiatives and reaction to Covid restrictions was retold. It was interesting to hear how much community work was completed at a time when we were to stay apart - bridge cleaning, walkway enhancement, Santa drive-by, a community Mass and even a drive-by to celebrate Fr Gould’s jubilee to name a few. A true testament to the heart and enthusiasm of all those who volunteer their time for their community.

Killavullen Community Council always welcomes new people from anywhere in the parish who wish to help out or come up with suggestions on how to make our parish a better place for all. Feel free to attend any of the meetings or get in touch with any current member.

Carrigacunna graveyard is being enhanced. The gates are ready for hanging. The walls are currently being painted and the cross is being varnished. This week many volunteers gave their time to help get this work done and it is greatly appreciated. It is a great sign of respect to our treasured community members who have gone to their eternal reward.

Nano Nagle Mass will be held this Sunday, May 21st at 11.30am in the Birthplace of Nano Nagle. All are welcome to attend this annual event.

COMMUNITY CAFE

Just before restrictions were put in place Killavullen Community Centre opened up a community cafe with the intention of opening once a month for anyone who wished to mix and mingle with others, have a cuppa and a chat. The good news is that we are now in a position to restart this initiative and we look forward to welcoming one and all, young and old again soon. Keep an eye out for further information.

ANNAKISHA CEMETERY WALL

It is planned to carry out repairs to sections of the graveyard wall this summer. In an effort to reduce costs, the builder has requested donations of old building stone, of a similar (limestone) type already in the wall. Please contact Fr Gerard if you can supply the same.
